1. What is MINE?

“MINE acts as a personal assistant, pulling together all the articles on the people you know, so you can maximize and deepen your relationships.”

MINE is a free app that we think will offer a lot of utility to business people by helping them to see what is happening—on a daily basis—with everyone they know. MINE uses very powerful information, information very different than what you normally see on platforms like LinkedIn or Facebook. We’re uncovering real intelligence, news on your contacts and their businesses, which you can use to reconnect with people or instigate business opportunities.

We’re talking about pertinent headlines only—not extraneous information like work anniversaries—as well as non-media announcements, such as those about someone joining a nonprofit board. These kinds of events don’t often earn a public announcement, but because of how we capture information on the web, we will find it. Or when people buy or sell stock—we’ll grab that too. Insider activity, donations made, job changes, anything that may not otherwise be announced. MINE acts as a personal assistant, pulling together all the articles on the people you know, so you can maximize and deepen your relationships.

Who will benefit most from the app?

MINE is a powerful tool for any professional who is engaged in ongoing business activities with decision-makers, from, politics to finance to consulting to sales.

What’s your favorite app feature?

You mean besides the cool logo? As I mentioned earlier, I like that the app functions as your assistant, pulling together the things you need to know on a daily basis. But I also really like that you can share articles and other inside information; that social feature creates numerous opportunities for deepening connections within your network.

At a more fundamental level, I think the thing that the app does better than anyone else is “person disambiguation.” You won’t get the same article multiple times. You won’t get information about the wrong person. That’s what differentiates us. The data is extraordinarily clean, only about the person you know, and that makes it especially useful and quickly actionable.

Where did the idea for MINE come from?

RelSci has always provided this kind of information to our clients; it’s one of the features that they have told us they find most useful. So we wanted to expose more people to the power of what we do. This is just a very small piece of what our product does, of course, but we believe that people experiencing it will want to understand some of the other—equally powerful—things our enterprise product can do.

Where do you hope the app will be in six months?

We’re going to continue to add an array of other features that I think people will find interesting. Something that resonates with the people we talk to is the ability to capture this data on a real-time basis and tie it down to the unique individual. Through this feature, we’re able to add numerous other features that people will find useful in expanding their business. Unfortunately, that’s all I can say on the matter for now.

How often do you use the app? And what do you use it for?

I use it every day! Just yesterday a friend and former colleague sold his company, and the app let me know about it. That spurred me to call and offer my congratulations. I think keeping abreast of this kind of information, even if it’s just to keep it stored away in the back of your mind, is critical. Sometimes, though, something happens with clients for which your service would be helpful and you can email right away to offer assistance. For example, for us at RelSci, if we see a person we work with move to a firm that maybe we’ve had trouble getting in to see, now all of a sudden, we have a new sales opportunity.
