Busting networking’s biggest myths

We at RelSci have lived and breathed networking for so long, we sometimes forget that the practice of forming connections is plagued by incorrect assumptions, false information and myth.

After all, we know networking to be a vital component to the health of one’s business, but there are still many who think of building relationship capital as a slimy ladder-climber’s game. As a result, individuals and businesses that would otherwise benefit from such connections instead miss out on the opportunities they afford.

In an effort to quash some of the most egregious untruths about networking, Josh Mait, RelSci’s CMO, put together (and then refuted) a list of the seven most common myths. The first, and perhaps the worst offender: the notion that networking is all about me, me, me. Read about why this is untrue, along with the six other myths and their counterarguments, over at Inc.com.

RelSci provides a relationship capital platform that helps create competitive advantage for organizations through a crucial yet vastly underutilized asset: relationship capital with influential decision makers.
